The Timmins Rock organization didn’t get the win on the ice Sunday afternoon, but they did notch a victory later on in the evening.

The first ever “Timmins Rock Celebrity Sports Dinner & Fundraiser,” featuring the legendary NHL defenseman Paul Coffey.

Coffey recalled tales from the Oilers dynasty in the 80’s, the 1987 Canada Cup, what made Wayne Gretzky the greatest of all-time and much more.

He was also able to give some advice and knowledge to the Rock, something that could provide that motivational boost come playoff time.

On the ice, the Rock lost 5-2 to the Powassan Voodoos.

The Rock will play the Cochrane Crunch in a Best-of-7 series starting on Thursday, March 16 and Saturday, March 18th in Cochrane.  Games 3 and 4 will be played at the McIntyre Arena Wednesday March 22 and Saturday, March 25.

We’ll post the full schedule when it becomes available.

There is another schedule note, the Rock still have one more regular season game left.  They play in Iroquois Falls against the Eskis on Wednesday, March 8th at 7:30pm.
