A 22-year old South Porcupine man could be in for more hearings after being released from custody this weekend.

The man accused of packing a novelty cigarette lighter that looked like a grenade in his luggage was arrested at the Timmins Victor M. Power Airport Saturday.

According to the Transport Canada website, “guns, firearms and other devices designed to cause serious injury by launching harmful objects or items that could be mistaken for such a device” are prohibited on all flights.

Timmins Police say they are currently consulting with airport officials, along with Transport Canada regarding “any further formal action to be taken against him.”

Officials had to evacuate the terminal and the airport was inaccessible for several hours.  Multiple flights were cancelled as a result.
