_______________

Daly: We’ll start it off easy and have some fun, tell me the kind of person who would not have fun at a Hazytones show and then the kind of person who would have a great time at a Hazytones show

Mick: Well if you want to put it in simple terms I’d say somebody who would not enjoy a Hazytones show would be somebody who is like a fan of Celine Dion or something

Daly: [Laughs|

Mick: I think any person that is into rock & roll music, or metal music is going to be into The Hazytones. I think we have a wide range of people we can appeal. We play stoner rock, but we can mix in with the metal crowd, we can mix in with the rock & roll crowd, we can mix in with the grunge crowd, so I hope that can answer your question.

Daly: Yeah, that’s a great answer actually [laughs]. You guys are playing a lot of shows, you mentioned before the interview that you’re on a 26 date tour, where are you right now?

Mick: We’re in Vancouver.

Daly: Wow, right across the Country.

Mick: Ya, we just crossed the whole Country. And Canada’s big. It’s just one of those tours where you really have to drive a lot to get through. But I’ve been thinking, Canada, the people, we’ve had a really good reception to our music so far.

Daly: Awesome! Is this the first cross country tour for the band?

Mick: Yes the bands only been [active] for a year, but things seems to be going really fast.

Daly: If you’re already going across the Country that’s huge.

Mick: I mean honestly I did it with another band back in October so I had a couple of contacts through Canada already. But the thing is the first tour it’s not like you play for those 300 people crowds. You meet the contacts, meet the promoters, meet the people, the next time you come around shows are getting bigger and bigger. It’s just a long process.

Daly: No that’s totally fair man, if you could go back before you went on tour, knowing you’ve been on the road for a bit now, and give the band once piece of advice before taking off; what would it be?

Mick: Umm…We’ve been eating at a lot of restaurants. We were supposed to get those small heating stoves to make spaghetti and stuff to save a bit of money. But we were in such a rush to just get out on tour that we forgot all about it. So we’ve been eating a lot of like McDonalds and sandwiches from restaurants and you start feeling a little tired. Food is important, and restaurants get to you after a while.

Daly: [Laughs] I can imagine those dollar menus when you’re trying to stretch the budget on tour can be really appealing.

Mick: Oh they do look appealing you know, but they’re a little worse after you eat nothing but McDonalds for two or three days straight

Daly: I love the name Hazytones for a Stoner Rock band, who came up with that?

Mick: Well at first we were called Stoneage, and there was that Queens Of The Stone Age reference that was a little too obvious. So we were trying names and then our bass player said we should be called the Baritones. But I wanted to have a stoner record so I thought about Hazy – Hazytones, and it fit.

Daly: That almost sounds like a new genre of music, Hazytones.

Mick: Yeah I’m pretty happy with it. I always think names are the toughest thing to think of in a band because it’s going to stick with you forever.

Daly: Stoneage, people might get the impression it’s a classic, Dad-Rock kind of band too.

Mick: [Laughs] Yeah with Hazytones it’s pretty obvious we do Stoner Rock
