The Timmins Police Service is confirming that the first appearance court date for Nathan
KOOSTACHIN, 19, of Timmins, is set for July 26th at Provincial Court in Timmins.
The Timmins Police Service – Criminal Investigation Division (CID) laid a charge of First
Degree Murder against KOOSTACHIN in the course of their investigation into the death of
Austin THERIAULT, 19, of Timmins.

The body of the deceased was located in the area of Bozzer Park on the morning of
July 13th.
A comprehensive criminal investigation involving Timmins Police front line officers, the Forensic
Identification Unit, and Criminal Investigation Division officers led to the arrest of the accused.
Nathan KOOSTACHIN, 19, of Timmins, is charged with one count of First Degree Murder
contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and will appear in Provincial Court in Timmins on July
26th to set a date.
The Timmins Police Service continues to liaise with the family of the victim by means of its
Victim’s Services Section to offer continued support and guidance.
The Timmins Police Service continues with its investigative efforts in

regards to this matter in
consultation with the Crown Attorney’s Office of Timmins.
