The Abitibi Trestle Bridge has a grand re-opening date.

Riversedge is welcoming traffic back to the bridge July 27th at 4 p.m. with an opening ceremony.  CEO, Justus Veldman says it was thanks to consultations with the community and it’s partners, this important piece of infrastructure can make it’s triumphant comeback — with the only difference being it’s now a toll bridge.

“We’ve come up with a plan we hope will keep the bridge open for the long term and help pay for the ongoing maintenance and ongoing cost requirements.”

The toll is set at $12 per crossing or you can buy a season pass for $450, which last until the end of 2016.

The bridge has been closed since August of 2014 after Resolute Forestry shutdown the paper mill in Iroquois Falls.
