ROTR_contestTimmins is cranking the volume to 11 for Rock on the River this weekend.

The two-day music festival is featuring some of the most popular current Canadian rock bands like Pop Evil, Glorious Sons and Monster Truck.

Timmins Festival and Events Committee Member, John Olvasson says this weekend will be a gauge to see if Timmins can host a festival of this size.

“A lot of people are talking about it around town.  I’m so happy we get to pull this off.  In the first couple years, attendance will be crucial to see if this can continue. After this weekend we’ll reevaluate how it went and hopefully it’ll turn into an annual event.”

The Glorious Sons kick off the weekend Friday night, followed by Pop Evil and Monster Truck Saturday night at Participark.  Olavsson says there’s plenty of local talent on the bill as well.

“We’ll have a side stage where we’ll have a  lot of local musicians playing during band change overs.”

Local artists include All the Wasted Years – who won TFEC’s Epic Band Battle in April.

Tickets are still available but VIP passes are sold out.  You can get your tickets at Wicked Stuff, Alfie’s Cigar Store, Ray Perrier Music and the TFEC website.  You can also by them at Bourque’s in Cochrane and Fuddy Duddy’s in Iroquois Falls.
