49 people lost their lives Sunday night when a gunman took aim at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida known as Pulse.

It’s the deadliest terrorist attack on US soil since 9/11, and you can bet the effects are far-reaching.  The LGBTQ community was wrapping up Pride Week in Timmins, with the flag at city hall flying high.  The city didn’t think for a second when requested to have it flown at half mast for a couple days extra.

And local residents painted those hearts of gold with the colour of that same rainbow flag in a show of support at a vigil, held at the Timmins and Area Women and Crisis Centre.

Here are just a few snippets of the vigil, as well as a few pictures at the flagpole at city hall, where residents brought some stuffed animals, flowers and flags.
