kidd awardGlencore – Kidd Operations’ safety performance has once again been recognized as the best in Ontario.

MSA Canada and the John T. Ryan Safety Trophies Committee has awarded the 2015 John T. Ryan Regional Safety Trophy in the Metal Mine category for Ontario to Kidd Operations.

This is the twentieth time since 1973 that Kidd has won this award. The John T. Ryan Regional Safety Trophy is presented annually to the operation which has achieved the lowest reportable injury rate among Ontario’s metal mines.

“Kidd Operations continues to create an enviable record for others to strive for,” said Gord Winkel, Chair of the John T. Ryan Safety Trophies Committee in his written announcement.

Kidd Operations has also won the John T. Ryan National Safety Trophy 11 times since 1975 and most recently in 2012.

“Winning this prestigious recognition attests to the efforts of workers and management to continually improve work processes and safety performance. However, as we celebrate this award, we continue to stay focused on our commitment to achieving Zero Harm,” said Kidd Operations’ General Manager Steve Badenhorst.

The trophy was presented by Michael Winship, Canadian Institute of Mining and Technology (CIM) National President, and Eric Lajoie, MSA Safety to Kidd Operations at the CIM – Porcupine Branch’s Gala Dinner on May 31st.
