Accepting the cheque on behalf of the Timmins and District Hospital were Janna Burke, Foundation Executive Director and 2013-2016 Capital Campaign cabinet members Dave McGirr and Gabriel Provost.

“We recognize the importance of contributing to the communities in which we operate,” stated Brendan Zuidema, Mine General Manager, Goldcorp Porcupine Gold Mines. “This brings our total donation to $1,500,000 for this campaign to be used towards the purchase of a new MRI,” added Zuidema.

“As a major employer in the city of Timmins, we know that many of our employees and their families depend on the services at Timmins and District Hospital,” stated Bryan Neeley, Sustainability Manager, Goldcorp Porcupine Gold Mines. “Supporting our hospital is essentially about supporting our families and that’s what makes this community partnership a perfect fit for Goldcorp,” continued Neeley.

MRI provides highly detailed images of the body for a Radiologists interpretation. The MRI unit in the Diagnostic Imaging department at TADH is a valuable tool in the treatment and diagnosis of specific diseases and/or conditions.

The current MRI unit will be at the end of its lifespan at the end of 2016. In fiscal 2015, over 9,994 exams were performed within the district.

“We are truly grateful to Goldcorp Porcupine Gold Mines’ commitment to its community and their dedication towards enhancing the equipment in our John P. Larche Medical Imaging and Cardiopulmonary Department” stated Janna Burke, TADH Foundation Executive Director. “This remarkable contribution from Goldcorp to help fund a new MRI machine brings our capital campaign total to just over $12.5 million in this last year of our four-year campaign,” added Burke
