Daly: Say someone’s never heard of The Twentiest before but they wander into a show, what are they going to be in for?

The Twentiest: It’s very in your face…but very fun, and very exciting. It’s exciting. They’re in for excitement.

Daly: [Laughs] Ok, so it’s very high energy? In your face? Yelling, sweating..that sort of thing?

The Twentiest: Yeah actually high energy is the perfect word. When people say, “What are you?”, I never know how to describe it. We keep getting punk thrown at us – we are all punk rooted guys so that’s by no means an insult, we love it. But at the same time we just didn’t really think that’s what was happening there…but people keep telling us that. I like to say high energy rock.

Daly: Is anyone in the band a fan of Billy Talent? I kind of get a Billy Talent vibe from your album. It’s a bit more aggressive, especially in songs like “April Fools”, it has that dirty, Billy Talent guitar sound to it.

The Twentiest: Yup, Billy Talent is a huge influence – we would have no problem sharing the stage with them [laughs].

Daly: Alright well if Ben from Billy Talent listens to this, there ya go

The Twentiest: It’s not the first time we’ve gotten that comparison either. And I like that your comparisson was more about the dirty guitar tones because usually it’s about my whiny voice.

Daly: That’s good, it’s always a hesitant question when you compare a bands sound to another bands, you never know if they’re going to take offence to it

The Twentiest: We just had that conversation last jam, like how you try to avoid comparing bands to bands because it almost feels like some kind of creative insult but it’s not. Come on, everything comes from something and at the end of the day it’s just an opinion anyway.
