Ohl logoThe 2016 OHL Priority Selection went throughout the day Saturday, and among the draftees are a couple of locals.

First, the Peterborough Petes selected Chad Denault in the 3rd Round (49th overall).

The Iroquois Falls native suited up in minor midget for the Sudbury Wolves this season, scoring 20 goals in 24 games.

Then, 6’4 left winger Danny Katic of the Timmins Majors was picked in the 8th Round (152nd overall) by the Saginaw Spirit.

Katic had 28 points in just 19 games this season.

The hockey bloodline is strong in the Katic clan.

Danny’s cousin is Mark Katic, who played 227 games over four seasons in the OHL with the Sarnia Sting (2005-09).

Mark also holds the distinction of being the the latest among Timmins natives to be drafted into the NHL (3rd Round, 62nd overall to the New York Islanders in 2007).
