20151224_112941_resizedHydro One confirms it has restored power to more than 49,300 customers following ‘s windstorm, which caused extensive damage to its distribution system across northern and central Ontario.

Crews continue to respond to 338 incidents affecting over 47,600 customers.

“This violent wind storm caused widespread damage in communities across Ontario as many were starting to prepare to celebrate the holidays,” said Jon Rebick, Vice President, Lines and Forestry, Hydro One. “Our lines and forestry crews are working as quickly and safely as possible and we appreciate our customers’ patience.”

In Timmins, they say about 800 homes and businesses could be in the dark until Saturday.  Comparing the rest of the north, Sudbury has the most customers that could be blacked out through Boxing Day at 4,000.  Nipissing region 2,500, New Liskeard 1,700, and Algoma 1,500.
