The Richelieu Club is stepping up to bring a 2nd Syrian family to Timmins.

The Club members are donating $30,000 and the Club itself is matching that amount. The announcement was made at city council but was a total shock to the members of the Multicultural Centre in the crowd.  Jaws dropped as the total raised was announced and even a few tears.

The city and the Multicultural Centre had already teamed up to raise around $46,000 to bring one family over.  Council agreed to even donate $15,000 on behalf of the city.

Mayor Steve Black thanked the club for their generosity and admitted keeping the secret from council was tough.
Councillor, Noella Rinaldo was quick to say the club also works tirelessly to help the less fortunate in Timmins as well.
