calabrian logoBESTECH has been selected by Calabrian Corporation to provide engineering services for the recently announced SO2CLEAN™ production facility in Timmins, Ontario.

This groundbreaking facility will supply the mining, paper and water treatment operations in the region. Design of facilities to support the SO2CLEAN™ process and site development are scheduled to begin immediately, followed by construction. The goal is to have the facility fully operational by the end of 2016, resulting with several skilled manufacturing jobs being created.

BESTECH will be the lead engineering firm on the project, completing the land development, civil, structural, mechanical, instrumentation, and process control requirements. In conjunction with their partner Praetorian, BESTECH will also manage the construction, procurement, contracts, schedules and cost controls. As a result of this partnership, the company will showcase their expertise in an industry outside of mining.

“Calabrian is extremely satisfied with the Timmins site and eager to embark on this partnership with BESTECH,” said Lee Smith, Engineering and Technology Manager at Calabrian.

“The skills and capabilities that BESTECH offer match our size and needs, making this collaboration a good fit for both parties. We are already impressed with the speed to which BESTECH representatives have been able to respond and meet our needs. Throughout the fast pace of this development, they have been flexible and accommodating to our schedule. We anticipate a strong, long term relationship incurring mutual benefits.”

The project is an exciting undertaking for the community as chemical manufacturing will be a unique enterprise to complement the number of employers currently operating in the City of Timmins and outlying region. Additionally, Calabrian utilizes an innovative technology with their proprietary production process, SO2Clean™, where this system is essentially emission free, reliable and capital efficient.

“BESTECH is thrilled to be able to meet the needs of the Calabrian team and to play a role in the economic benefits that this project will create for Northern Ontario,” said Denis Pitre, Vice-President & Co-CEO of BESTECH. “Our goal is to become part of our client’s team and establish long-lasting working relationships. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue with the diversification of our services by working with a reputable business in chemical manufacturing.”
