Media Release - International Enrolment Up at Northern (Picture)If you recall, Timmins Mayor Steve Black was in China a few weeks back.

Recently, Northern College President Fred Gibbons trekked to the other side of the globe and gained some new partnerships for the college, three to be exact.

Northern will be affiliated with nine colleges or universities in September 2016 after forming deals with Jiangxi College, Henan Economy and Vocational College and Jincheng University.

As it is now, students are able to take Northern courses.  There is an added year to courses abroad, as the first year is spent getting students up to speed with the English language.

Students are also able to forego their final year of studies, and choose to do those classes in Canada.  Gibbons says that is a key, so those students can see what the college is all about, and will have options to remain local after their schooling is complete.

Gibbons’ goal is to have a 10th partnering school, and wants to attract 1,000 students from around the world to the college next year.
