During the evening hours of August 23, Timmins Police officers responded to a disturbance in the central area of the city.

Upon arrival on scene, police spoke to several witnesses; however the incident was no longer in progress. Information received by police during the course of the investigation indicated that the altercation possibly involved weapons, including a firearm.

As a result of this information, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Timmins on August 24, 2015. During the execution of the search warrant, police seized two rifles, ammunition, an air gun, and a wooden baseball bat. Police also seized 30 methamphetamine tablets.

Lawrence MILLER, 47, of Timmins faces charges of Careless Use of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He was also charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
