toydriveAn annual event that has increased in popularity over the past few years, the “Timmins Police Service / H.O.G. Northeast Chapter “Santa’s Motorcycle Toy Rally For Kids”, will take place Saturday, June 20th.

The rally, under police escort, will depart from and return to the Timmins Police Community Building on Spruce Street South.

Registration begins at 11:30am, and the ride itself leaves at 1:00pm sharp.

“All riders – all makes – all models”, the rally’s unofficial motto, signifies the open invitation that is extended to everyone to participate in this motorcycle rally to benefit children.

The annual ride attracts great numbers of motorcycle enthusiasts for its route, which progresses through Timmins, Schumacher, and South Porcupine with a stop at the South Porcupine Food Bank. (CLICK HERE for the route.)

The purpose of the rally is two-fold: to collect toys to be distributed to area women’s shelters and solicit donations for the food bank.

Over the years, numerous children have benefited from the generosity of the riders who participated.

If you would like to register for the rally, it’s $20.00 or the donation of a new, unwrapped toy to give to a child between the ages of 2-12.

Leading up to the ride, H.O.G. and the Shoppers Drug Mart Cancer Walk team are hosting a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society.  It will be in the Sportsplex parking lot on Thursday, June 18th from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

You’ll be able to demo the latest Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and from 11-3, you can participate in the charity BBQ.
