The Matheson man who stole an OPP cruiser is facing several charges in court today

20 year old Travis Plant broke into marked cruiser, later forcing officers to use a spike belt device to slowly stop the stolen vehicle

The investigation wrapped up shortly after 3:30 am on Sunday after the cruiser was spotted by OPP officers – who then followed it to a location just west of Matheson.

The OPP is thanking the public for using social media to help in the matter

 

 

 

 

  • Break, Enter a place as per section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle as per section 334(a) of the CC;
  • Theft Under $5000 as per section 334(b) of the CC (2 counts);
  • Resist Peace Officer as per section 129(a) of the CC; and with
  • Driving while under suspension as per section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

He is being held in custody pending a 9:30 am court appearance on Monday, March 23, 2015
